Post-Graduate Diploma in Peatland Management

Peatwise Partnership,lead by Alterra-ILRI, Wageningen UR, The Netherlands (Member of WetCap)

Aim: The course consists of six modules that can be followed individually:

  1. Ecology, Natural Resources and Environment;
  2. Water Resources and Hydrology of Peatland Catchments;
  3. Peat Soils and Land Use;
  4. Cross-disciplinary Research Methodologies;
  5. Human Dimensions and Resource Economics in Peatland Management;
  6. GIS and Remote Sensing for Peatland Management and a Research project.

Who can participate: Midcareer professionals, having a BSc in science, agriculture or
engineering, working in the government or private sectors assigned to jobs related to the
management and development of peatland.

Duration: 9 months for the post-graduate diploma programme and 4 – 6 weeks for each module.

Location: The course is organised every year at the University of Sarawak, Malaysia
and the University of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
